There were only 3 games on the schedule on Wednesday. Teams are battling for important position points as we approach the NHL All-Star weekend. Let us take a look at the Former Islander contributions from around the league:
* Viktor Kozlov assisted on Washington's 1st goal but the Capitals fell on a last minute goal to the host Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2. Kozzer now has 31 points (8 goals, 23 assists) on 49 games. He has 4 goals and 1 assist for 5 points during his 3 game point-scoring streak.
* Todd Bertuzzi assisted on the too-little-too-late powerplay goal as the Anaheim Ducks dropped a 2-1 decision to the visiting Detroit Red Wings. Bert has 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) on 38 games this season. He now has 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) on the man advantage. The powerplay helper was the 100th of Bertuzzi's career.
* Roberto Luongo stopped 26 of 28 shots and all 4 he faced in the SO as the Vancouver Canucks pulled off a 3-2 come-from-behind win at home against the St. Louis Blues. Luongo, who will miss the NHL All-Star Game, enters this break with a 22-16-4 record with a .925 save percentage and a paltry 2.10 goals against average with 6 shutouts. Teammate Taylor Pyatt missed his attempt in the 3rd round of the SO.
Look in soon for more FI happenings.
