The NHL was set on moderate mode on Wednesday night as 10 teams faced off in 5 highly contention tilts. Former Islanders are lending help where they can. Let us take a look at their contributions:
* Jim Dowd keeps racking up points since Philadelphia waived him about 2 weeks ago. Dowd assisted on the opening goal of the game as the Flyers downed the visiting Florida Panthers 5-3. He now has 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) on 36 games. The bulk of Dowd's scoring has come in 5 of his last 6 games where he has recorded 1 goal and 4 assists. Olli Jokinen assisted on the 3rd Florida goal. O-Jok has 22 goals and 22 assists for 44 points on 47 games.
* Defenseman Eric Brewer recorded an assist on the lone St. Louis goal as the host Chicago Blackhawks manhandled the Blues for a 6-1 win. Through 39 games, Brewer has 11 points on 1 goal and 10 assists.
