It was a fairly busy day around the NHL as 16 teams were in motion in 8 games. Former Islanders are helping as much as they can as we speed toward the postseason. Let us take a quick look the FI efforts:
* Martin Straka had an assist on the powerplay game winner, then added one on the empty netter as the New York Rangers downed the visiting San Jose Sharks 3-1. Straka has 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points on 44 games. Surprisingly, he has only 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) on the man advantage. He is in the midst of a 3 game scoring streak in which has record 4 assists.
* Defenseman Eric Brewer had 4 assists (3 powerplay) as the St. Louis Blues batted around the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets for a 5-1 win. Brewer received 2nd star of the game honor and now has 19 points (1 goal, 18 assists) on 53 games. With the litany of helpers he snapped a 3 game point-less streak. Brewer has recorded 8 assists on the man advantage. The 4 point outburst was his most offensively productive night since he started playing in the 1998-99 season with the Islanders.
* Mathieu Schneider had a powerplay assist on the insurance goal as the host Anaheim Ducks downed the Calgary Flames 4-2. Schneids has 8 goals and 21 assists for 29 points on 46 games. He has notched 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists) with the extra man.
* Mark Parrish scored Minnesota's 2nd goal as the Wild edged the visiting Nashville Predators 5-4 in OT. Parrish snapped a 5 game point-less streak with the netter and now has 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points on 51 games. For the 9th straight season Parrish has scored 25+ points.
