Wednesday March 7

4 games were played last night with a couple of inter-conference matchings facing off. All in all a quiet night for FIW as Former Islanders accounted for a goal and an assist. Here's the news:

  • Jamie Heward scored his 5th of the season in Los Angeles' 3-2 OT loss to Columbus at the Nationwide Arena. The powerplay goal that made it 2-1 was his 3rd such goal of the season and first since being traded from the Capitals to the Kings at last week's deadline.
  • Raffi Torres had an assist on Edmonton's lone goal in the Oilers' 3-1 home loss to Tampa Bay. His 32 points is a seeming disappointment for an Edmonton team that was expecting to rely much heavier on players like Joffrey Lupul and him. This was Torres' first point in his last 5 games.

There are 9 games on tap for Thursday. It should be an interesting night and don't forget it's game 2 of the Isles-Rangers home-and-home at 7:30 pm. Until next time...
