Sunday March 11

As any given week winds down in hockey some days feel like the games were left on a simmer. Sunday night was one of those nights. Not much was happening in the NHL on Sunday where 6 games were being played. Even less was happening for the Former Islanders. Here's the brief breakdown:

  • Mark Parrish assisted on the opening goal in Minnesota's 3-2 OT win against Colorado at the Xcel Energy Center. The assist was Parrish's 20th of the year. He currently has 36 points in 65 games this year for the Wild.
  • Trevor Linden notched an assist last night in Vancouver's 4-2 loss in Anaheim. He now has 10 assists on the year and a whopping 19 points in 67 competitions. Sopel contributed his fifth goal of the season last night. Since joining the Canucks he has 3 points in his 7 games. The goal was Sopel's first with his new team. Also of note was the loss by Luongo. He stopped 20 of 24 shots but lost for only the 20th time this year in 63 starts. Currently he is 10 below his career high in games started with only 13 games left on the season.

Only four games are to be played on Monday night but as always keep your eyes on the scoreboards.
