Tuesday March 13

9 games were played on Tuesday and for the second straight night Former Islanders were hard to find. Accounting for 2 points and a 1-0-1 in net here is how the night unfolded for FIs:

  • Brad Isbister accounted for the primary assist on the Rangers' second goal in their 3-2 loss in Ottawa. For Isbister it was his first assist in 10 games this season with the Rangers and only his second point.
  • Alain Nasreddine notched an assist on Pittsburgh's second of the night in their 5-4 home SO win over Buffalo. Seemingly a mainstay at Pittsburgh's blue line following the injury of fellow FI Eric Cairns it was only his second assist of the year and third point overall in 36 games played.
  • Backstopping the Central Division battle of the night Chris Osgood brought Detroit within a point of the league leading Nashville Predators. Detroit took the game 5-2 in Nashville largely on the strength of Osgood's play. He stopped 29 of 31 shots and improved 9-3-4 with a .900 save percentage and a meager 2.63 goals against average.
  • Robert Luongo is trying to find win number 40. He fell short in OT as the Canucks lost at home to the Wild 3-2. Though he stopped 26 of 29 shots against him his team couldn't bail him out in the extra frame. His record drops to 39-20-5 while his impressive save percentage hovers around .920 and his goals against average is a paltry 2.35. Amazingly for all the great play Luongo only has 3 shutouts on the year.

4 games on Wednesday night. Until next time.
