Wednesday March 14: Hamrlik 500th Point

Wednesday night was another slow evening in the NHL. With four games on tap Former Islanders did the best they could accounting for 3 assists. The story of the night, though, was Roman Hamrlik. Here is the notable FI moments:

  • Alain Nasreddine had an assist on Pittsburgh's second goal in the Penguins' 3-0 win in New Jersey. For the first time in his NHL career Nasreddine had points in back-to-back games. He has played 46 games on his career with the Islanders and Pittsburgh.
  • Roman Hamrlik has been on a tear recently with 9 points in his last 9 games and topped it off last night with two assists. Hamrlik helped on both Calgary goals in the Flames' 3-2 road loss to Colorado. The first assist was Hamrlik's 500th career point and the second put him over that threshold. Hamrlik accomplished the feat in only 987 games. As well, he now has 34 points in 63 games on the season.

Ten games are in contention on Thursday night with the battle for positioning happening everywhere. Keep posted until the next FIW. Thank you.
