It was a busy night around the league as 18 teams were in action in 9 important tilts. Former Islanders are trying to help solidify playoff spots for the contenders while the FIs on noncontenders are just counting the days until vacation officially starts. The game winner was his first of the season and first since December 16, 2006 while still with the Chicago Blackhawks, a span of 114 games including 12 from last season's playoffs. Defenseman Roman Hamrlik received the 3rd star of the game honor despite not making a dent on the scoreboard.
* Chris Osgood stopped 19 of 20 shots to steer the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-1 win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Osgood, playing for the first time since February 26, improved to 24-8-3 with the win. He is also sporting a .917 save percentage and a league low 2.07 goals against average.
