Thursday March 13

Sixteen teams were in motion in 8 high octane games around the NHL. Battling for important standings positioning teams are looking to make that final push into the playoffs. Former Islanders are helping their respective teams out where they can. Let us look at the FI happenings from a busy Thursday night:

* Adrian Aucoin assisted on Calgary's 2nd goal as the Flames fell to the host Atlanta Thrashers 6-4. Aucoin snapped a 9 game point-less streak and now has 8 goals and 23 assists for 31 points on 66 games.

* Chris Osgood stopped only 16 of 19 shots but it stood up as the Detroit Red Wings stormed back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the visiting Dallas Stars 5-3. Ozzie is now 25-8-3 on the season.

* Center Derek Armstrong assisted on Los Angeles' first goal as the Kings routed the host Nashville Predators 4-1. Armstrong now has 30 points (8 goals, 22 assists) on 67 snapping a 6 game point drought with the helper. For the 5th straight season Armstrong has recorded 30+ points, all of them since joining the Kings during the 2002-03 season.

* Roberto Luongo stopped a barrage of shots (43 of 45) but the complete lack of Vancouver offense led his Canucks to a 2-0 blanking at the hands of the host Phoenix Coyotes. Luongo received 3rd star of the game honor but 31-22-9 on the season. The loss was his 2nd in as many nights.
