Former Islander and current New York Rangers defenseman signed to SKA St. Petersburg of the Russian Superleague. In the final year of an exorbinant contract the Rangers are now able to shed much of the $3.1 million they were to pay him this season.
This could very well be the end to his 15 year NHL career in which he played 863 games scoring 27 goals and 136 goals for 163 points, a +39 rating and 1,379 penalty minutes. A former first round pick (5th overall) in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft by the Islanders, Kaspar saw playing time with only 4 teams on his career, the Isles, Penguins, Avalanche and Rangers.
