Another team was knocked out of contention on Saturday as half a dozen teams faced off in 3 more high stakes NHL Playoff games. Former Islanders are lending their help where they can. Let us take a quick peek at the happenings:
* Viktor Kozlov finally notched a point as the Washington Capitals avoided elimination with a 3-2 win over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. The win cut the Flyers series lead to 3-2. Kozzer assisted on the Caps' 2nd goal only 1:25 into the 2nd period. Kozlov has 1 assist on 5 games snapping a 5 game playoff drought dating back to April 18, 2007 while still with the Isles.
* The Boston Bruins continued to stave off elimination this time in a close one, a 5-4 home win over the visiting Montreal Canadiens. The win evened the series at 3 games a piece and keeps alive for now the once slim Bruins' hopes. Captain and defenseman Zdeno Chara assisted on the game winner with only 2:37 remaining in regulation. Chara has 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) on 6 games this postseason.
* Ryan Smyth notched the series winning goal for the Colorado Avalanche as the knocked off the visiting Minnesota Wild with a 2-1 victory. Colorado advances having won the series 4-2 over Minnesota. Smyth has 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) on 6 playoff games.
