There were 3 more games on the schedule on Saturday as every series has officially kicked off in the 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Former Islanders and helping where they can. Let us take a look at the games:
* The Nashville Predators fell victim to the host Red Wings again as Detroit beat the Pred 4-2 to grab a 2-0 series lead.
* Roman Hamrlik opened the scoring with 1:30 remaining in the 1st period as the Montreal Canadiens edged the visiting Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in OT. The Habs grabbed a 2-0 series lead with the win. The goal was Hamrlik's first in the playoffs since April 24, 2002, a span of 27 playoff games without. FI teammate Bryan Smolinski assisted on the goal. Smolinski has 1 goal and 1 assists for 2 points on 2 games this postseason. Bruins' rookie Petteri Nokelainen on assisted on their first goal. The assist was the first postseason point of Nokelainen's young career.
* Todd Bertuzzi assisted on Anaheim's 2nd goal as the Ducks fell to the visiting Dallas Stars 5-2. Dallas secured a 2-0 series lead with the victory. The playoff point was Bertuzzi's first since May 17, 2007 while playing with the Detroit Red Wings against none other than the Anaheim Ducks.
