There were only 3 games up for grabs as teams continue to battle for points as we approach the midseason of the 2008-09 NHL season. With so few games the opportunities for Former Islanders contributions were slim. With that in mind only one FI made any major offensive impact. Here is a look at the lone FI accomplishment of the day:
Minnesota defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron score the first Wild goal as they fell the host Anaheim Ducks 4-2. The goal came on the powerplay midway through the opening frame. MAB has 3 goals and 13 assists for 16 points on 29 games. All 3 of Bergeron's goals this season and 8 of his assists have come with the man advantage. With the tally MAB snapped a 4 game point-less streak and a 20 game goal-less run dating back to October 29. The goal-less run was the longest of MAB's career surpassing his 19 game drought between May 27 and November 13, 2006 while still a member of the Edmonton Oilers. That span included the first 2 games of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals in which Bergeron never saw the ice again that playoff and his troubled start to the 2006-07 season with the Oil where he was already a marked man.
