Friday December 5

There were a paltry 4 games on Friday night but Former Islanders did make contributions in 3 of those contests. Here is a quick look at the FI action:

Calgary winger Todd Bertuzzi notched a powerplay assist on the Flames' 2nd goal as they downed the host St. Louis Blues 4-3 in OT. Bert now has 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points on 26 games. He has 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) with the extra man. Bertuzzi is rapidly approaching career point #600.

Colorado winger Ryan Smyth had a secondary assist on the tying goal with 56 seconds left in regulation but the Avalanche fell just short as the host Dallas Stars pulled off a 2-1 SO win. Smyth was stopped on his attempt in the 4th Round of the SO which if successful would have extended the game. Smyth has 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points on 26 games. He has points in 3 consecutive games notching a goal and 2 assists over that time.

Edmonton defenseman Denis Grebeshkov contributed 2 assists as the Oilers pulled out a 5-4 SO victory over the host Los Angeles Kings. Greb now has 1 goal and 10 assists for 11 points on 22 games. The multi-point effort was his 3rd of the season. Grebeshkov now has double digit assists for the 2nd straight season and is well on his way to surpassing his career high 15 helpers from last year.
