December kicked off with 5 games on the schedule. Former Islanders kicked in their help in only a pair of those contests. Here is a look at the FI workload from Monday:
Detroit backstopper Chris Osgood stopped 15 of 16 shots en route to a 2-1 Red Wings victory over the visiting Anaheim Ducks. Ozzie had one of his best games of the season and improved his record to 10-1-4 on the season. Osgood has not lost in regulation in 14 straight starts going 10-0-4 over that span despite stats that are hovering around his career worsts.
Colorado winger Ryan Smyth had the primary assist on the game winning goal as the Avalanche survived a near Wild comeback to pull off a 6-5 win over host Minnesota. Smyth has 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points on 24 games. The helper was his first since November 8, a 9 game span without one. Also getting involved was Wild FI Marc-Andre Bergeron who had a powerplay helper on the Wild's 3rd goal. Bergeron now has 2goals and 11 assists for 13 points on 23 games. Six of his 11 assists have come on the man advantage.
