In the inane Former Islander department, prospect defenseman Ryan Caldwell who was traded last season in the deal that brought Eric Boguniecki to the Island, signed a 1 year contract with the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday. The financial terms were not released. A 26 year old d-man originally drafted in the 7th round, 202nd overall, Caldwell has only played 2 NHL games (both in 2006) registered 2 penalty minutes and 2 shots.
