The NHL saga of Alexei Yashin is over, at least for now. It was announced Friday that Yashin signed a 1 year, 1 way deal with Yaroslavl Locomotiv of the Russian Superleague. The deal includes no out option to return to the NHL mid-season meaning Yashin is not coming back until the 2008-9 season, if he ever decides to return. Though no monetary details were released, it can be presumed that Yashin is making around $4 million which means, with the buyout from the Isles, Yashin isn't missing a beat on cashing in for next year, even if it is half way around the world.
