Tuesday February 3

There were a whopping 11 games on the Tuesday night schedule yet Former Islanders only tallied points in 4 of those tilts. Here is a quick look:

Montreal defenseman Roman Hamrlik netted a goal and added assist and was awarded the first star honor as the Montreal Canadiens dispensed with the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2. It was the 3rd multi-point effort of the season for Hamr and he now has 3 goals and 15 assists for 18 points on 50 games. The tally snapped a 46 game goal-less streak dating back to October 13. For the 13th straight season and 15th time on his career he has reached 15+ helpers.

Florida d-man Bryan McCabe scored the deciding goal in OT as the Florida Panthers edged the host Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3. The goal gives McCabe 10 on the season and added to his 12 assists gives him 22 points on 40 games. The goal was the 125th of McCabe's career and came in game #957. For the 5th time on his career McCabe has scored 10 or more goals during a season. Receiving the primary assist on Toronto's 2nd goal was winger Jason Blake. Blakey now has 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points on 47 games. The winger is riding a 5 game point scoring streak in which he has recorded 9 points on 4 goals and 5 assists.

Winger Todd Bertuzzi had the secondary assist on the lone Flames' goal, a powerplay tally, as Calgary fell to the host Dallas Stars 3-1. Bert has 2 assists in as many games and now has 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points on 45 games. He has recorded 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) with the man advantage.

Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo finally won a game stopping 24 of 27 shots as the Canucks eked by the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 4-3. Luongo snapped a 5 game winless streak (0-2-3) winning for the first time in 2009 and for the first time since November 19. On November 22 Luongo left a game only 5 minutes in after suffering a groin injury. The victory improved Luongo's record to 12-7-5 on the season with a .915 save percentage and a 2.54 goals against average.
