Super Sunday took North America by storm with a rather exciting Super Bowl. With that noted very few games were schedule on Sunday with only 3 contests up for grabs. Former Islanders aided in 2 of those outings. Here is a look:
Washington forward Viktor Kozlov assisted on the 2nd of 3 Alex Ovechkin goals as the Capitals thumped the visiting Ottawa Senators 7-4. Koz now has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points on 46 games. Over the last 2 games Kozlov has stepped it up with 3 points on 1 goal and 2 assists. For the 3rd straight season and the 9th time on his career Kozlov has reached 20+ helpers.
Edmonton winger Robert Nilsson recorded the primary assist on lone Oilers' goal as they fell to the visiting Nashville Predators 2-1. Nilsson's play has taken an upswing recently with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) over the last 3 games including a helper in each of those tilts. Nilsson now has 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) on 39 games. For the 2nd straight season and the 3rd time on his career Nilsson has reached double digit assists.
