Only 3 games were in contention on Sunday night. Former Islanders were active in 2 of those competitions. Let us look at their contributions from Sunday:
* Roberto Luongo loss a close one as the Vancouver Canucks dropped a 2-1 decision to the host Minnesota Wild. Luongo stopped 28 of 30 shots but was saddled with the loss due to the continued absence of Canuck offense. Following a 3-consecutive game shutout streak, Luongo gave a valiant effort but is now 12-10-2 on the season. Helping the lackluster Vancouver attack was Taylor Pyatt who received the secondary assist on the lone team goal. Snapping a 3 game point-less streak, Pyatt now has 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) on 26 games this season, good enough for 6th on the team.
* A game after both appeared on the boxscore, FIs Raffi Torres and Robert Nilsson were at it again on Sunday as the Edmonton Oilers shocked the defending Stanley Cup Champion Ducks 4-0 in Anaheim. Torres scored the game winner 9:29 into the first period. With 3 points in the last 3 games, Torres now has 9 this season on 5 goals and 4 assists on 27 games. The game winner was Torres' second of the year. Nilsson had a powerplay assist late in the first period. Nilsson now has 2 assists in as many games. With 7 points (1 goal, 6 assists) on 19 games this season it is looking good that Nilsson might stick around with the Oil for the rest of the year.
