The last night of the year was a fairly busy around the NHL. There were 16 teams facing off in 8 games around the league. Former Islanders were active throughout the league on the final game of 2007. Let us take a look at their work:
* Boston captain Zdeno Chara capped the year with a 2 assist night, 1 powerplay, to help lead the charge in a 5-2 Boston Bruins win over the visiting Atlanta Thrashers. Chara assisted on the game tying goal and added one of the powerplay capper. He has 23 points (5 goals, 18 assists) on 39 games this season. He has had 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) on the man advantage.
* Wild forward Mark Parrish scored a shortlived tying goal as Minnesota was edged by the visiting San Jose Sharks 3-2. Parrish now has 16 points (9 goals, 7 assists) on 36 games this year. He has had points in the last 3 games with 2 goals and 1 assist equalling his longest streak of the season.
* Coyotes' forward Mike York assisted on his team's 2nd goal as Phoenix pulled off a 4-3 win over the visiting Colorado Avalanche in the SO. York has 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) on 34 games since joining the Coyotes for the 2007-08 campaign. With the assist, York snapped a 3 game point-less streak.
* Roberto Luongo received a loss in a close contest as the Vancouver Canucks lost 2-1 to the host Calgary Flames. Luongo stopped 18 of 20 shots and fell to 18-12-3 on the season.
