A slow night around the NHL as only 8 teams faced off in 4 games. Vying for midseason points, Former Islanders are helping their respective teams every which way they can. Let us take a look at their contributions from Friday:
* Arron Asham missed his chance for a goal as he was stuffed on the penalty shot with 3:34 remaining in the 1st period of what would turn out to be a 2-1 win by the New Jerseu Devils over the visiting Buffalo Sabres. Also missing a chance was Sabres' forward Tim Connolly in the second round of the SO frame.
* Olli Jokinen provided the lone offensive strike as the Florida Panthers were knocked around by the visiting Montreal Canadiens 5-1. O-Jok's goal in the 3rd period broke a 4-0 streak by the Habs the first two frames. The goal was Jokinen's 20th of the season and he now has 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists) on 38 games. Canadiens' d-man Roman Hamrlik received the primary assist on the opening goal of the game 1:42 into regulation. Hamrlik has 14 points (2 goals, 12 assists) on 38 games.
As the action heats up so do the recaps. Check back for the summaries from a busy Saturday.
