Six games were up for contention on Friday night as 12 teams fought it out for important midseason points. Former Islanders were lending their help where they could. Let us take a look at the FI efforts:
* Martin Straka lent a hand to the flacid Rangers' offense as the lackluster Blueshirts from New York dropped a 4-3 OT decision to the host Colorado Avalanche. Straka assisted on the 2nd and 3rd Ranger goals. He has 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) on 20 games this year. In his current 3 game point streak, Straka has 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points.
* One of the most offensive (the good kind) FI defenseman in the league right now is Flames' blueliner Adrian Aucoin. He kept up his recent string of boxscore appearances on Friday as he assisted on the 2nd Calgary goal. The Flames lost 3-2 in OT to the visiting Dallas Stars. Aucoin has 6 goals and 13 assists for 19 points on 35 games. He currently holds a 5 game point scoring streak in which he has notched 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists).
