UFA winger Mark Parrish has signed with the Dallas Stars. The deal is a 2-way contract that would pay Parrish $500K at the NHL level and $100K at the AHL level. Supposing he passes a physical scheduled for Tuesday, Parrish could be in the flailing Dallas lineup as soon as Friday. Thus ends Parrish's brief return to the Islanders organization with which he had recently signed a 25 game Professional Tryout with the team's AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Parrish is a 660 game veteran who started his career with the Florida Panthers after being drafted in the 3rd Round, 79th overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. From there Parrish played the brunt of his career with the Islanders before a late season trade sent him to the Los Angeles Kings in 2006. During the summer of 2006 Parrish signed a 5 year deal with his hometown team, the Minnesota Wild. Following this last season the Wild bought out the remaining 3 years of his contract but did it so late as to render any league-wide interest in him mere speculation. Parrish has 208 goals and 164 assists for 372 career points. He has also appeared in 27 playoff games tallying 9 points on 5 goals and 4 assists. In his recent tryout stint with the Sound Tigers Parrish recorded a goal and an assist for 2 points on 3 games.
We wish the Mark the best as he makes his way back to the NHL.
