Friday November 7

There were a meager 4 games on tap on Friday, a veritable calm before the Saturday storm. With so few games Former Islanders had limited opportunities to make offensive impacts. However FIs made waves in 2 of those tilts. Let us take a peek:

Buffalo center Tim Connolly, only 3 games back from surgery for hip bone spurs, is already making a major impact down the middle. TimCo had 2 powerplay assists for the Sabres as they fell 5-4 in OT to the visiting Atlanta Thrashers. In 3 games Connolly has 3 assists with all of those helpers coming on the man advantage.

The story of the night was winger Mark Parrish who was playing his first game with Dallas after signing a 2 way contract earlier in the week. After only 3 games with the Isles farm team the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) on a 25 game Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) the Stars, in desperate need of offense, signed the 10 year veteran. Parrish made an immediate impact netting a hat trick in his first game! Parrish netted 2 powerplay goals and added a breakaway even strength goal to lead the charge as the Stars downed the host Anaheim Ducks 5-2. Among his accomplishments in notching his 6th career HT was scoring the game winning tally. The game winner was the 38th of Parrish's career while the 3rd goal was his 375th point on 661 games. The game winner was his first since April 5, 2007 while late in his first season with the Minnesota Wild. The HT was his first since December 9, 2006, part of that same season. What a start for Mark!
