Six games were up for grabs on Friday night. Former Islanders, as always, were in the fray scoring 1 goal and adding 4 assists for 5 points and a win in net. Let us take a look at their efforts:
* Olli Jokinen assisted on the lone goal in Florida's 4-1 loss to the visiting Atlanta Thrashers. The Panthers' center now has 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) on the season in only 17 games.
* Bryan McCabe notched the game winner, an even strength goal, in Toronto's 3-0 shut down of the host Buffalo Sabres. Usually an powerhouse of offensive defense, McCabe has struggled early. He now has 3 goals and 2 assists for only 5 points on 11 games this year.
* Mathieu Schneider kept racking up the points with his new team, the Anaheim Ducks, on Friday night. Schneider had an assist in the Ducks' 3-2 SO win over the visiting division rival San Jose Sharks. Schneider now has 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) on only 5 games since recovering from his injury. Schneider was also stoned on his SO attempt.
* Roberto Luongo extended his winning streak to 3 games while stopping 24 of 25 shots as the Vancouver Canucks pulled off a 2-1 OT victory over the visiting Colorado Avalanche. The Canucks goalie improved to 7-8-0 on the season while lowering his goals against average to 2.73 and raising his save percentage to .907. A couple of FIs also helped the Vancouver cause assisting on the opening goal of the game. Taylor Pyatt received the primary assist to improve to 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points on 16 games this season. Brad Isbister received the secondary assist on that goal as well. Isbister now has 3 points, all assists, on 12 games this year. Extending back to last year (including the playoffs) Isbister is on a 34 game goalless streak.
