Saturday April 14

With four tilts up for grabs on Saturday there was, yet again, a dearth of Former Islander action. All four competitions were 1 goal wins for the road teams, in most cases the wins evened their respective series. The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame a weak first game and a late third period deficit in game 2 to win 4-3 against the host Ottawa Senators evening the series at 1 game a piece. The Tampa Bay Lightning turned a 1 goal New Jersey Devils' advantage into a 3-2 road win to even up that series at 1. The Islanders took the lead on a powerplay goal midway through the third period to seal up a 3-2 win over the host Buffalo Sabres knotting up that series at one win per team. Let us take a look at the other game:
  • Martin Straka assisted on the first goal 8:08 into the first period in the New York Rangers' 2-1 win over the host Atlanta Thrashers. The Rangers now lead the series 2 games to 0. The assist was Straka's second in as many games.

Four more games are on tap for Sunday. We here at FIW are hoping the Former Islander action heats up. Keep checking for all your playoff updates.
