On Waivers: Mathieu Schneider
Word coming out of Anaheim is that the Ducks have placed defenseman Mathieu Schneider on waivers. Slated to make $5.75 million this season, the final in a 2-year deal signed last offseason, the Ducks are presuming that a team will pick up Schneider (hello Los Angeles, Colorado, Islanders?) and his contract before he clears re-entry waivers. Anaheim is trying to avoid a buyout situation where they would be hit hard financially in their attempt to clear cap space for the return of Teemu Selanne. With Schneider the team is about $1.3 million over the cap and without they have about $4 million dollars available for Selanne who would probably pull in about $3 million (assuming, sorry). FIW will keep you posted as this story develops.
