FIW has learned that defenseman Jason Strudwick has signed a 1 year deal with the Edmonton Oilers. Full terms have yet to be announced. Update: The 1 year deal is valued at $650K.
Originally drafted in the 3rd Round, 63rd overall of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Islanders, Strudwick has spent parts of the last 3 seasons only miles away from Long Island as a member of the hated Rangers. Strudwick has been signed to bolster the Oil's blueline.
Strudwick has played in 488 games tallying 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points. His best season came with the Blueshirts in 2005-06 when he notched 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) on 65 games. Strudwick has played for the Isles, Canucks, Blackhawks and Rangers. We wish Jason the best with his new team.
