Defenseman Aaron Johnson signed a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks late last week. Terms of the deal have yet to be announced. Update: It is believed to be a 1 year deal worth $525K. FIW is inclined to believe that this is a 2-way contract that pays a max of $525K full-time NHL.
Johnson played 30 games for the Islanders last season notching 2 assists, 30 penalty minutes and a +2 rating. Originally selected in the 3rd Round, 85th overall of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 146 games between the Jacks and Isles, Johnson has notched 7 goals and 21 assists for 28 points. He has also logged 123 penalty minutes, a 0 +/- rating and 2 game winning goals.
We wish Aaron the best with the rapidly rebuilding Chicago franchise.
